The Evolved Mind and Your Core Wound: How to Create a Jumbo Shift in Your Life

I am extremely euphoric about taking Jim Kwik’s course in speed reading via MindValley. It is just amazing!!! It’s been a lifetime goal and now I am doing it!!! I am on day 9, and already, I have gone from 200 to 250 words per minute to about 350 wpm to 450 wpm. Jim virtually promises to double your reading speed with increased comprehension (and yes, it’s more than possible because, at 450 wpm, you lose subvocalization). With the new technologies of online delivery over 21 days i.e. 30 minutes per day versus a weekend seminar, and using neuroscience (vs old-time skimming and skipping), you are bound to learn to read faster than your 7th-grade self. Yep, most of us read as fast as our 7th-grade self. If you saved 1 of the 4 hours on average that you read, you would have 2 months of every year to do something else.
And the goal is no longer speed reading, the goal is information processing, faster thinking, and reading flexibility (reading 200 wpm for difficult things you need to learn, and 750 wpm when reading the news from the Internet to 450 when reading fiction). I am now a MindValley Business Coaching Partner. I am excited about introducing all of MindValley products to businesses. So please let me know if you want your workplace to pay for your self-development. I cannot think of any productivity tool that gives you back more life than spending 30 min for 21 days with Jim Kwik and cost-effective too.
I am back in Canada after being in Denver in September to complete my RIM Certification training in September. I am excited about so many things. I normally have a review of what has happened since my birthday, and I did that on Facebook this year (the biggest news was that I have lost another 10+ pounds). I am excited about Mango Valley Homes in Jamaica, an affordable home development that I am working on. I am excited about my scholarship to Clear Beliefs (see below).
I am excited about today’s article below that introduces 4 concepts: another reason why most people are failing in self-development, core wounds, Andrew Carnegie's instructions on how to get rich, and an evolved mind solution on money.

The Evolved Mind and Your Core Wound: How to Create a Jumbo Shift in Your Life
“In order to master life, you need to teach your mind to be calm, kind, and creative.” Buddha
Buddha’s saying simplifies how to flourish. According to Positive Psychology, the goal of life is flourishing. Flourishing is what the Greeks would have called eudaimonia (“eu” meaning “good” and “daimon” meaning “spirit” or “good soul”), which has been translated for years as “happiness”, but is more now correctly interpreted as flourishing. The 5 components of flourishing per Positive Psychology are positive emotion (happiness), flow (using your gifts), meaning in life (who are you and purpose), relationships (love), and achievements (money). The first three are components of what Martin Seligman, the founder of Positive Psychology, calls “authentic happiness”.
Goal in Life = Flourishing = Master Life= Trained Mind
Flourishing = Trained Mind
Once you equate authentic happiness to what I call my “inner loving world” or calm and peace on the inside, then you are able to understand how teaching your mind equates to flourishing and how to master life.
When you have peace of mind internally, your mind according to Buddha is “calm”. So when you are happy (positive emotions), understand your gifts and use them (flow), and know who you are, your purpose (meaning in life), you have authentic happiness or you have a loving inner world and you also will have a calm mind.
The analytical part of me needs to simplify the goal of life and how to achieve it by training the mind, using equations (LOL).
Flourishing = (Happiness + Flow + Meaning) + Relationships + Achievements
Authentic Happiness = (Happiness + Flow + Meaning)
Therefore,
Flourishing = (Authentic Happiness) + Relationships + Achievements
Mind = Calm + Kind + Creative
Therefore, if you want to Flourish and have authentic happiness, relationships, and achievements, then you teach the mind to be calm, kind, and creative.
Authentic Happiness = Calm Mind
Relationships = Kind Mind
Achievements = Creative Mind
Why do you flourish in life when you have a trained Buddha mind?
When you have a calm mind, then you know how to think and have positive emotions, you understand yourself including your strengths, weaknesses, and gifts, and know who you are and how you want to use your gifts in service to the world. Your calm mind or your loving inner world is achieved when you have trained your mind on how to do these things. So when you achieve a calm mind, you would have done so by teaching your mind the components of being authentically happy.
Also, when you teach your mind to be kind (kind is another word for love and compassion in the broad sense), then you will have great relationships.
Similarly, when you teach your mind to be creative, you can use your creativity and imagination to create the things that add value in the world and therefore help you to “create” achievements.
How Do You Train Your Mind?
Once you become conscious, you can take possession of your mind. This is the fundamental key to mastering life. Take Possession of Your Mind. In other words, you start monitoring your thoughts, behaviour, and results. You then begin to understand there is a direct correlation between what you believe, think, feel, behaviour (action), and the results in your life.

Most of us are on autopilot and not realizing that we can control our thoughts. If there is only one message that I could do to help people is to take control of their mind, become aware of your mind’s core networks and double their capacity, clear out the old non-supporting beliefs and emotions, and install the latest beliefs, values and future self-identity that supports their dreams.
Buddha decided that man’s suffering was a result of man’s own incorrect thoughts. He, therefore, “gave” meditation as the key to improve the world—i.e. to help man to improve self, meditation is the fastest way to begin taking possession of your mind, and helping to teach the mind to be calm, kind, and creative.
While meditation is still useful in training the brain, the world now understands much more about the brain today. You can train your mind using neuroscience (e.g. neuroplasticity) to upgrade the core brain network components of your mind: awareness (analytical), imagination, salience, motivation, emotions and align your beliefs, values, and self-identity to become your best self.
Once you upgrade your mind, you have an evolved mind, a mind that is calm, kind, and creative. This is the master key to life. You have control over your mind and also access to Infinite Intelligence.
You can use your new mind to unlock and create evolved mind solutions to achieve health, happiness, love, and abundance in all areas of your life.
Training your mind is really the essence of a self-improvement program. There is your body, mind, spirit, heart. We normally separate the body and mind. And then include things like energy (spirit), emotions (psychology) as part of the mind solution, which when we talk about core networks, emotions are part of the brain and subconscious (spirit, energy, awareness) also become part of it. These are all components of the mind. So self-improvement is about training the mind.
Two Common Mistakes People Make In Training Their Minds:
Mistake 1: Not Improving our Brain Core Networks

Most of us own a Mac 128K (1984) or PowerBook G3 (1999) equivalent for our Brain.
We keep on going to seminars and gaining more data. We continue to use the old model of reading, writing, and arithmetic and think if we do these better we will get better. And our computers cannot even access the Internet (Universal Intelligence) and the new software. We are getting the latest “software” or “method thinking” i.e. the latest information (think about the last book you read) and not realizing that the components of their brain have not been upgraded
Self Development is really about getting a better brain--better components of the brain, better software, and access to Infinite intelligence. It’s About Upgrading Our Brain to an iMac 2020 or iPhone 11 (now 12. LOL), with a camera, Retina touch Screen, great sound, video, phone, CPU, and access to the Internet that can run the latest software.
Our core networks are: awareness/analytical, imagination, salience (I call the love network), motivation, emotions. How many of us have taken programs or exercises to increase these core networks, to make them better? What have you done to improve your salience network recently—perhaps a course in self-compassion or appreciation and gratitude? Or how about improving our emotional network—perhaps therapy that works on childhood trauma or core wounds?
There are lots of self-development programs that are giving you access to the latest information i.e. software, however, our brains are NOT equipped to run the latest software. We need to improve our core networks.
Mistake 2: Not Focusing on the Subconscious Mind
If 95% of our actions taken daily are based on our subconscious mind, then we need to focus on what is happening in our subconscious mind in order to change what is happening in our lives. If we want to improve our external world, we need to improve our internal world. And the biggest part of our internal world that affects our external is our subconscious mind. I have found that beliefs, values, and self-identity are the components that perhaps are the biggest part of our “subconscious” that affects our lives. Therefore, using the 80/20 rule, one should focus on beliefs, values, and self-identity.
In the next section, I am going to demonstrate the importance of the impact of beliefs. Just one part and the gigantic influence it has on our lives. Yet, most pay little attention to it and have done even less work on improving their beliefs.
The Importance of Beliefs In Transitioning from Poverty to Riches
In 1908, Napoleon Hill interviews Andrew Carnegie on the science of achievement. 20 years later, after doing research to verify Carnegie’s views, the first book is written, Laws of Success in 1928, in 1937 Think and Grow Rich is written.
Andrew Carnegie told Napoleon Hill that removing negative beliefs was the first step to riches. (this by the way is NOT told in Think and Grow Rich as explicitly). As told in the Napoleon Hill book “How to Own Your Own Mind”, in 1908, Hill asks Carnegie: “What is the first move a man makes when he is through with poverty and has become determined he will have riches? Where is the precise point at which the transition from poverty takes place, and how may one reach that point?”
Carnegie responds: “The man who prepares himself to change from poverty to riches is something like the farmer who wishes to convert a forest into a productive field. He first clears away the timber and debris. Then he plows the ground and conditions the soil. After that, he plants the seeds….”
“It is precisely the same procedure with the man who makes up his mind to be done with poverty. He must clear his mind of all negatives and self-imposed limitations (MHS: step 1 is clears the forest = removes negative beliefs and emotions.)
The next step is that of making one’s self success conscious (MHS: plows the fields = creates abundance consciousness and abundance beliefs). Riches have a way of gravitating toward the man who has made up his mind to have them. (MHS: Law of Attraction)
He is then in a position to adopt a Definite Major Purpose and to begin expressing it in action, through a definite plan (MHS: plant the seeds = create value with definite major purpose). From this point on he applies the principles of individual achievement….
If he has properly charged his mind with success consciousness, he will not want to quit (MHS: why success conscious is important also). This preparation is an absolute essential for the acquisition of riches.”
It is important the first 2 steps that Carnegie addresses: 1) remove negatives beliefs and emotions 2) installing success or abundance consciousness. Only then, do you plant the seeds i.e. create a definite plan to accomplish your objective. We have been told that we need to start at definite purpose i.e. what is goals and objectives. Therefore, most people completely ignore steps 1 and 2—remove negative beliefs and install abundance consciousness.
Core Beliefs or Core Wounds
So Carnegie understood the importance of clearing negative beliefs as being the equivalent to chopping down the forests. In my recent work on myself, I can see why beliefs are like forests that need to be cleared before you can go from poverty to riches.
In working with beliefs, I have recently been learning about core wounds (i.e. core negative beliefs) and how it affects our lives. My core wound is that “I am damaged” and my core belief is “I am a failure.” (until now LOL)
Around the time of my birth, there was a big argument between my mother and father, and then at my birth, I had to have forceps (on my head) and had to be pulled out. As child, I remember people saying my head was squeezed due to forceps, so my head was squished or “damaged”, and I couldn’t get out and had to be helped out via the forceps (please remember these may not be true, I only need to remember it as such, when I interpreted it as a child, to create my core wound).
Later at the age of 3 or 4, I pulled a pot of hot water on myself and was in the hospital unconscious for about 2 weeks—this reinforced my thoughts of “I am damaged”. Now, fortunately, I only have one small mark left on my body of that accident, a miracle in itself. Nevertheless, I was left with the psychological scar of thinking I was “damaged”. So this became the theme of my life and our core wounds (or core negative beliefs) have major repercussions for how we live our lives (what we do unconsciously).
Core wound has important implications for most people. Most of us probably have an identity belief from birthing trauma, some form of “there is something wrong with me.”
My Core Issues
It is good to look quickly at your core issue.
My core issues: (e.g. MHS: I am damaged)
My beliefs underneath my core issues: (e.g. MHS: I am a failure)
The strategies I employ to avoid my feelings: (e.g. MHS: disassociation..i.e. thinking; being smart; self-criticism)
Mark’s Example of His Core Wound
Even before I was born, my dad had my brother from another mother and used the money my mom had put way for my birth for my brother’s birth and that created a huge upset with my mother. My unborn self interpreted this as something is wrong with me, I am damaged. At birth, I could not get out by myself, forceps had to be used to help me, I failed (I am a failure) and then I was left with forceps squeezing my head; so damaged head. Then I couldn't talk until age 4--damaged speech (something is wrong, I am damaged) and failed to talk (I am a failure)---then I pulled hot water on myself--damaged skin physically--3rd-degree burns--then started school late because I couldn't talk. In order to resolve this core issue or to demonstrate your core, I continued to demonstrate this core wound in my life. I failed in relationships, failed as a father, failed with kids, failed to keep money, failed at jobs, career, etc. I keep putting myself in situations (until now) that showed failure.
When you write your core wound, you write it up as if it were true. We know it is NOT true. However, seeing your life through the filter, it gives you an understanding of how it has affected your life (or not).
Core Wound a rich territory to explore. When you clear this belief, you will feel a tectonic shift in your life. If you need help in clearing this belief. Note, when you do this exercise, you may feel horrible about yourself. So please have resources ready to help yourself or call me if this happens to you. Reach out to me or a therapist. And you can also reach out to me to clear your core wound beliefs.
Evolved Mind Solution to Meet Your Money Goal
Beliefs is only one component of improving your mind capabilities. However, you can see what a huge difference it has been now that I discovered my hopeless trauma and cleared it, and in the process of clearing my Core Wounds. You can see what a huge benefit it would be to have all these extra capabilities (or lack of hindrance) in each component of your evolved mind. In Carnegie’s example, I am cutting down the forests (remove negative beliefs) and plowing the fields (create abundance or success consciousness) during 2020.
Once you have an evolved mind, then you can use your evolved mind to create solutions to issues. Below, I have provided an example of this in expanding Carnegie’s formula in using all your expanded mind components to creating wealth (money).
Remember, the first two parts per Carnegie are to clear the forest and plow the fields.
1. Use Your AWARENESS finding out your BELIEFS about money, work, and success and clear your negative beliefs and install new enabling beliefs. Also, find out how your core beliefs and core wounds affect your issues around money.
2. Use Your AWARENESS and determine if you have EMOTIONS from trauma that affect money and clear them (e.g. stuck hopelessness).
3. Listen to Deepak Chopra Abundance Meditation or Abundance Code movie to increase your SALIENCE network for abundance consciousness.
Once you have cleared the forests and plowed the fields, you are ready for planting.
Use Your AWARENESS to understand your gifts and SALIENCE to Decide on what you want to give to the world and use it to create an asset (business, product, etc). (Definite Purpose)
Use Your IMAGINATION to Create a plan for what you want giving more value than you receive. The written or communicable plan has to be in the realm of possibility using your AWARENESS (analytical ability) and be time-bound.
Use Your IMAGINATION to Visualize every day or affirm it--which tells your subconscious mind that this is what you really want. Eventually, it becomes an obsession and desire ie very strong feelings for what you want.
Use your EMOTIONS and BELIEFS to Create a Clear channel of enthusiasm for what you want (no fears or anger) to the subconscious that picks up on the feelings and sends the information into Infinite Intelligence.
Use Your MOTIVATION to take Action (at least 60 to 90 minutes first thing in the morning every day) on the plan and move towards it. Use VALUES to have Pleasure while in Action.
Use IMAGINATION, EMOTIONS, BELIEFS, VALUES, FUTURE SELF, and MOTIVATION to Create the Self Who You Need to Be to Attain what you want and take Action to become that Person (BE, DO, HAVE).
Use VALUES AND SALIENCE (LOVE) to Create the mastermind to find out what you don't know and create the alliances and networks you need.
Infinite Intelligence will send resources to help you. Use your AWARENESS to be on the lookout for them. This includes a plan and people that may be better than your plan or modifications of your plan that are sent via your conscious back into your mind.
Keep taking Action including your visualizations and decisions based on your FUTURE SELF IDENTITY of you in the completion of what you want.
Use EMOTIONS to know things feel right and fit together and have fun. Use AWARENESS for Feedback to course-correcting until you reach your goal. The plane is 97% off course until it lands.
Action Items:
Run through your most important money goal through the Evolved Mind Solutions money solution and see how you fare.
Core Wound is a rich territory to explore. When you clear this belief, you will feel a tectonic shift in your life. Note, when you do this exercise, you may feel horrible about yourself. So please have resources ready to help yourself (therapists or coaches) or call me if this happens to you. Reach out to me if you are in a bad place (when I first did it, I reached out to a coach to help me). And you can also reach out to me to clear your core wound beliefs.
